David Perron has always had supreme talent, but has always had to deal with the injury bug. Now an unrestricted free agent, could the Flyers try to court him?

Player Name: David Perron
Current Team: Anaheim Ducks
Weight: 200 lbs.
Stats (71 GP): 12 G, 24 A, 36 PTS, -1, 62 PIM
Most Recent Cap Hit: $3.81 Million
Why the Flyers Should Target Him:
A former first round pick of the St. Louis Blues, Perron has always had high expectations thrust upon him. Despite solid career numbers, injuries have derailed his career in the past. However, Perron is a highly skilled middle-six winger that can play all situations and has speed to burn. In other words, he’s everything that the Flyers are seeking.
Where He Would Fit in the Lineup:
Similarly to the other free agents the Flyers are targeting, it seems likely that Perron would slide in on the third line beside Nick Cousins and Matt Read with special teams playing time in the cards. However, Perron could see time on the second line as well.
How Much Would He Cost?
Perron didn’t have his best year last season, but he did pick it up significantly after a trade to the Ducks. His track record could fetch him a cap hit around $4.5 million a year, but I wouldn’t expect to see a deal longer than 4 years due to his spotty injury history.
Other Teams That Could Show Interest:
Perron’s old Ducks, the Canadiens, the Canucks, and the Avalanche could be interested in Perron’s services.
What They’re Saying:
“Source: Montreal Canadiens have had contact with David Perron, who would be very interested in playing for them.”
