Brayden Schenn is a restricted free agent coming off of a career-best season. Are the Flyers ready to pay him the big bucks?

Player Name: Brayden Schenn
Current Team: Philadelphia Flyers
Weight: 195 lbs.
Stats (80 GP): 26 G, 33 A, 59 PTS, +3, 33 PIM
Most Recent Cap Hit: $2.50 Million
Why the Flyers Should Target Him:
Brayden Schenn had a breakout season last year for the Orange and Black. He saw time at all three forward positions, and posted a career-best 26 goals, 33 assists, and 59 points. He also became a power-play threat and finally showed night-by-night consistency.
Where He Would Fit in the Lineup:
Schenn still doesn’t really have a permanent fit in the lineup, but he’d probably be a wing for Claude Giroux and would be in the slot on the top power-play unit.
How Much Would He Cost?
This is the big question. Schenn is only a restricted free agent, but if the Flyers locked him up long-term, they could take away some of his unrestricted years. Expect Schenn to fetch a 5-year contract with a cap hit around $5 million.
Other Teams That Could Show Interest:
Because Schenn is an RFA, it really just comes down to Schenn and the Flyers to figure out the dollars and cents of his new deal.
What They’re Saying:
“It goes without saying that Schenn is the Flyers’ most notable and important restricted free agent.
‘I venture to guess that it’s not going to be the first thing we get done, but in the end, we’ll get it done,’ Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said in late April of re-signing Schenn.”
