As the Flyers await the start of free agency, one player they will likely target is one they know well, Ryan White.

Player Name: Ryan White
Current Team: Philadelphia Flyers
Weight: 200 lbs.
Stats (73 GP): 11 G, 5 A, 16 PTS, -9, 101 PIM
Most Recent Cap Hit: $800,000
Why the Flyers Should Target Him:
Why mess with a good thing? Ryan White came over to the Flyers two offseasons ago and has held down a steady spot in the lineup. His relentless, grinding style of play combined with his decent hands and faceoff prowess made White a regular in Dave Hakstol’s lineup. White is coming off of a career-best year and loves playing in Philadelphia.
Where He Would Fit in the Lineup:
White found success last season playing on the fourth line beside Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Chris VandeVelde. If White was to be re-signed, he would certainly slide back into his old role beside his linemates and would see sporadic time on the power play and penalty kill.
How Much Would He Cost?
White is coming off of a career season, but one wouldn’t expect White to accrue a cap hit much higher than $1 million over a possible 2-year deal.
Other Teams That Could Show Interest:
Any team in need of a solid but cheap bottom-six grinder should be interested in White. The Flyers have said they’d like to have him back, but teams like the Blackhawks, Bruins, or Rangers could be interested in White.
What They’re Saying:
“’Are you searching for money and opportunities or are you searching for a place where you’re wanted and a place where you are getting minutes and getting a big part of the chance to help your team win…
Knowing the system, knowing the coach and having the coach’s respect and him liking you and playing you is a big thing. I think that’s a tough thing to find sometimes in this league.’”
